WLCU

WLCU is Campbellsville大学’s broadcasting epicenter where students will receive hands-on experience and learn the day-to-day processes of running WLCU’s 88.7 FM老虎 广播电台和 WLCU-TV 电视台.

Broadcasting students from the 大众传播 department are trained in all aspects of operations producing content in areas such as: news, 天气, 远程广播, 板操作, 宣布, 系统维护, 软件等等.

校园时代

从历史上看, a staff of student reporters and photographers have produced a monthly edition of the 校园时代 newspaper while school is in session. The newspaper is currently on a hiatus. But, beginning in 2023-24, plans are to transition the print newspaper to a fully online product.

Financial assistance available through performance grants

Each year the Department of 大众传播 has available several performance grants ranging from a few hundred dollars to $1,000或更多.

学生 must meet certain financial requirements to qualify. Those who do qualify and are rewarded a performance grant, perform a variety of tasks such as supervising one of the department’s MAC labs or working at the on-campus, 电视台, 或者电台, WLCU-TV / FM.

$500 scholarship presented each year

每年秋季, the Department of 大众传播 awards a $500 scholarship to either a journalism, 公共关系, 广播或电影专业.

申请奖学金, a student is required to write an essay discussing why he or she deserves the scholarship and what he or she hopes to accomplish through a career in the mass communication field.

被称为 Stan and Joan Cottongim McKinney 大众传播 Scholarship, it was first awarded in the fall of 2007 to Heather Marie Campbell Hensley from Waynesburg, Pa.

Guidelines for the scholarship give first priority to be to a journalism student, then a 公共关系 student and finally a broadcast or 电影 student. This criterion was established by the McKinneys because of Stan McKinney’s background as a journalist and Joan McKinney’s background in 公共关系.

The Society of Professional Journalists

All mass communication students are eligible to join the Society of Professional Journalists, a national organization for working professionals in the field, 教育工作者和学生.

The Society of Professional Journalists offers a variety of services for its members including a job bank. Check out the organization’s Web site at www.spj.org.

Membership will permit students to attend a variety of 研讨会 and apply for internships and scholarships offered by the association.
